I struggled through Yoga X tonight after doing Legs and Back with some friends yesterday. I tell you what this routine still kicks my butt. Most yoga is boring and slow I enjoy the flow of this one. I’m sweating right from the beginning.
On to P90X2, can you believe it? It’s finally up for pre order release!! I’ll attach a link below. Or you can check it out at Deborah’s main site. Check it out here, http://www.DeborahaPeters.com
She did a great video with an interview of Tony Horton here talking about the concepts and science behind the new sequel. P90x2 should be a welcome challenge. Losing my last ten pounds or so and should be ready to bring it!
Why am I writing this? Well, when I was thinking about P90X in general, let alone the Yoga X workout, there weren’t solid reviews around, even now it’s a “clouded” subject, so this is to help you in case you’re in the same position I was.
But be warned, I’m going into both the good and bad points, so if you only want to see the good stuff, you may as well leave now.
Overall, great workout! As with the rest of P90X, Yoga X is the usual workout, “with something extra”. The type of Yoga in the routine itself is called “Flowing Yoga” so you continually move from one pose to the next and repeat. This opens up all the pathways while building strength, which makes more sense, being part of P90X. I’ve seen lots of complaints from Wheenies on the net whining about Yoga X, which tells me they know nothing about Yoga in general, yoga moves aren’t easy! You know it works when it’s hard.
Well rounded overall routine: increases strength, endurance & flexibility
Lots of hip openers, great if you’re not flexible in this area (think of the possibilities)
Strength training in arms and quads due to long pose holds (believe it Guys!)
Feel incredible afterwards, limber, quality sleep
Not so muchpoints:
Long! 90 minutes. Now, the last 30 minutes are balance poses, you could just stop and stretch after an hour, save the balance poses for another workout and still get the yoga.
The back poses are difficult, I’m younger and have a bad back so certain parts I don’t do, and if you’re body tells you “no”, you should do the same.
To sum it up, Yoga X rocks as does the rest of P90X, you’re missing out not doing it. It’s the fountain of youth, an important workout to include in your routine. It enhances every other workout because of the circulation and stretch. Connects mind, body & spirit. Muscles mean nothing, 6 packs mean nothing if you break in 30 years, which will happen if you’re too ego driven to do yoga exercises. Oh, and BTW: Doing Yoga does not mean you’re Gay.Real men do Yoga. Now go get it!
No joke, Shakeology and healthy clean diet are critical to your results. Tony Horton himself drinks it. 70 ultra-healthy ingredients in a single glass, this delicious new shake is a nutritional powerhouse, with an unbelievable amount of great stuff in every low-fat, low-cal serving. You get protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals, phytochemicals and antioxidants, super-green foods, prebiotics, digestive enzymes, and just about everything else your body could ever need.
I have no doubt that not only is your goal to get as fit and healthy as you can, how about reversing the time clock? I mean what is all this hard work for in life, if we enter our later chapters looking haggard, and wishing for the Glory Days? Tony Horton, featured below, is in his 50′s. How many 50 year olds do you know look like this? i don’t know many. ;( He’s attractive, sexy, in peak physical condition – all because he made the choices that all our bodies truly want – which included yoga. For someone in his 50′s, he’s living a life much younger than his years, but with the wisdom that time teaches. We all want that.
The body ultimately is about passages, opening circulation, sending/receiving messages. Yoga works with all that. Workout routines that don’t incorporate power yoga are not benefiting you to the fullest, not even close. Sure they’ll raise your heart rate and build muscle – but they’re not the same. I don’t say that to lessen their importance – you need it all. Lots of options out there in power yoga too: youtube yoga, yoga weight loss – Yoga X is great because it’s one component of an entire workout program, going together. The whole package = youthful, mind body and spirit. Aging comes down to stress; the less stress in your life, or ability to at least release it – keeps us young. Start wherever you are, and know it only gets better from there.
OK guys, I’m aiming this at you because some believe doing any yoga video is sissy, or gay, I’ve even heard. Let’s be completely honest, the whole reason you’re looking at this yoga online and P90X to begin with, is because you wish to do something about your physique, right? This is the workout you want, believe it. It is an important part of the puzzle, a very critical component. For starters, doing vinyasa yoga and all these varied yoga poses reduces injury. That alone keeps you consistently working out, not missing any. Second, the yoga moves enhance everything else, range of motion – how important is that to your workouts??
That’s Huge, you know it, and I know it. Third, strength – I know, I know – it has nothing to do with “weights” but it uses your body weight for resistance. It forces control, balance and focus. Let’s face it, you know the more muscle fibers you use in an exercise, the body responds – this is another angle for muscle confusion. All these add up to a balanced, hard and sexy body. Look at the pic below. Be honest with yourself.
Every hot blooded male on the planet wants this physique – as every woman would also like every male on the planet to look like this!
I had to write this blog, excited too – because when I wanted some answers on this topic of power yoga, instead I found a bunch of smack talk from sissies threatened by the topic instead of an informative review. I wanted real information surrounding yoga exercises, and how the P90X version was different from other yoga moves I’d done in the past, and also – how could I help men out there just get a real honest answer?
Yoga classes I’d attended were always challenging, but did not require the strength moves as this one. Yoga poses in the X package are held for awhile. This home yoga, (which I like so it’s in the privacy of your home) has some crazy poses like “crane” which can only come in time. The weenies out there that think yoga poses are for only girls – have not seen these moves! Plus, most men tend to be very tight in the quads, naturally – this will help loosen those up while building strength and flexibility.
